Jay is a contemporary guitarist who draws heavily from jazz, blues and pop. Since moving to New York in the early 80's by way of The Berklee College Of Music, Jay has worked with a vast array of musicians. He was nominated for a Grammy while working with Spyro Gyra and continued touring and recording with artists such as Michael Franks, Chuck Mangione, Herbie Mann, Michael Urbaniak, Kenny Werner, and John Patitucci. In 1995 Jay received an MFA in composition from SUNY Purchase and presently teaches at Manhattanville College. 

Azzolina has recorded four CD's of original compositions under his own name presenting several different genres of music. From more traditional tracks with Adam Nussbaum, John Patitucci and Chris Potter to hip hop urban grooves with Greg Hutchinson and Larry Goldings, Jay manages to keep common musical threads throughout.
